A rare Chinese shallow dish, Sung / Song Dynasty (960-1279), of porcellanous stoneware with upturned edge to rim and raised foot, golden brown glaze with orange peel crazing, unmarked, paper label to base, 22.5 by 5.5cm high, with original receipt showing purchase on 20th September 1935 from Dickinson and Son, Oriental Arts and Crafts, Winchester House, Singapore, for 45 dollars, and letter from the retailer describing the dish. Provenance: The Estate of Mr Joseph B. Hay, son of Major-General Arthur K. Hay DSO OBE - 100 years of a military family.
