JAPANESE MEIJI PIPE CASE (KISERUZUTSU), TOBACCO POUCH (TOBAKO-IRE) AND SILVER PIPE (KISERU), late 19th century, The red lacquer Murakami pipe case of muso-zutsu form, decorated with leafy scrolls and circular motifs including the yin-yang and various mon; attached to a stag antler ojime and to a fabric tobacco pouch, the tabako-ire with geometric brocade patterns and embellished with a mixed-metal mae-kanagu modelled as an insect amongst flowers; with a metal and bamboo pipe, pipe length 18.2 cm, case length 20.4 cm, pouch length 11.5 cm
General surface wear commensurate with age. There is a crack to the case approx. 6 cm down from the outer rim with an additional 2 cracks, and approx. 7 cracks to interior section of the case. Wear to lacquer on ojime.
