A George V Royal Naval Officer's dress sword, by Pote & Son of Devonport, with 31.5" inch fullered blade, etched with King's monogram, maker's name to ricasso, and proof plug, solid brass gothic style hilt with folding locking plate, wire-bound shagreen grip with lion's pommel, bullion knot, leather scabbard with brass chape, middle band and mouthpiece, together with a mochorome photograph of the officer in Sub-Lieutenant uniform holding the sword, inscibed to reverse 'Captain Francis Fernley Smith born 1885 - died 6.11.43.'
