An Annamese polychrome porcelain dish, Vietnam, probably 16th / 17th century, robustly potted and painted in iron red, yellow and light green over an underglaze blue pattern with two carp to the central reserve, within a border of peonies and leafy scrolls, the exterior with bold polychrome lappets, the base unglazed with swirled iron red colour, 10¾in. (27.3cm.) diameter, large crack; together with an Anamese blue and white stoneware shallow bowl, 11 5/8in. (29.5cm.), cracked. (2) - Polychrome dish: A large crack extends approx. three-quarters of the way across one side of the dish - it is large enough to fit a fingernail into the rim end of the crack, reducing to a hairline at the other end. No other damage. - Blue & white bowl: Two hairline cracks on opposing sides of the bowl - neither are visible to the underside. There are also two 2in. hairlines to the rim, which are visible underneath.
