A Great War Pair comprising War Medal and Victory Medal named to 16859 Pte A. Ireland Dorset R. Arthur Ireland served with the 6th Battalion Dorset Regiment and with the 1st and 7th Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry as number 31725, he was wounded on the 29th November 1917 and entitled to a wound stripe. His next of kin were given with an address in Sherborne.
A War Medal to 20929 Pte W.C. Ireland Oxf & Bucks L.I. Wyndham Charles is also recorded as resident in Sherborne, he was killed in action on the 6th November 1916 and is buried at Adanac Military Cemetery, Miraumont France. *CR Last on an incorrect ribbon, normal light surface marks.
