A hand painted piece by Len Goodwin, 1951. "Len Goodwin, a notable pharmacologist, balanced his scientific career with a profound interest in art. Educated at University College London, he shifted to pharmacological work during World War II, joining the Wellcome Bureau of Scientific Research. His significant contributions included research on malaria, where he notably tested pyrimethamine's effectiveness in malaria prophylaxis on himself. Alongside his scientific endeavors, Goodwin nurtured a passion for the arts, particularly watercolor painting and pottery, often used to illustrate his travels. His artistic talents were complemented by a sense of humor, showcased in his cartoons and poems in Parasitology Today. Despite losing his sight in later life, possibly due to his experimental work on malaria, Goodwin's love for art and the natural world remained a significant part of his legacy, illustrating a unique blend of scientific brilliance and artistic creativity."
