Seventeen postcards of the ill-fated HMS Gladiator, the Portsmouth-based cruiser which collided with the American steamer SS Saint Paul off the Isle of Wight in 1908. Sixteen cards are real photographic, with the photographers including Welch and Sons (JWS) of Portsmouth, Stephen Cribb (his four cards photographed as a group) and two by FN Broderick of Ryde (photographed). The one printed card is by FGO Stuart, of Southampton.
Generally good condition. Some have album corner marks. Two or three have relatively minor creasing.
