c.1900, three horn fans, the first mounted with gold lamé fabric and extravagantly embroidered with gold and silver sequins in horizontal swags, some laid over black chiffon, the verso with a fine layer of black gauze, diamantés to the loop, fitted with a knotted black silk tassel, contained in a good cream silk Duvelleroy fan box, guard approx. 21cm; together with a similar fan, the upper guard pierced and pierced with some colouring, barrel head, the pink silk leaf embroidered with silver sequins and spangles, in ovals and swags, the verso in plain pink chiffon guard approx. 19cm; and finally a light coloured horn fan with pierced and lightly gilded monture, the gold lamé leaf overlaid with cream silk, a central cartouche painted with a regency couple dancing, a violinist and pipe player with music to their side, the reserves are filled with swags of oval gold spangles, guard approx. 21cm (3)

More Information

The first fan has one broken rib and two gorge sticks need to be re-secured to the ribs, the loop is tarnished. The pink fan has splitting silk and chiffon, and also has a tarnished loop. The rivet on fan 3 has lost one end so is not holding. It also has a missing stick and some damage to some of the ribs. One guard is warped.
