AN EDWARD VI SILVER SHILLING, with mint mark of ‘y’ indicating that it was struck in Southwark in 1551. The obverse shows the facing bus of the young king, angled slightly to the left. To one side a Tudor rose, to the other XII to indicate the denomination (12 pence or Shilling). Reverse: a long cross, quartering a shield of royal arms. Weight: 6g.
