An Edwardian glazed rosewood and marquetry screen with Chinese watercolour panels, the three fold screen with broken arched top with floral and ribbon swag marquetry, over a boxwood strung frame and further neo-classical marquetry panel the the base, the glazed screens each enclosing a Chinese watercolour of birds painted on fine silk gauze, the central panel with a pheasant perched in a willow tree, the two side panels painted with hawks chasing prey above mountainous lake landscapes, the central and one side panel signed, 58¾in. (149.25cm.) high, each fold 19in. (48.25cm.) wide, the silk paintings 44¾ x 15½in. (113.7 x 39.5cm.). The screen itself in good condition and very original with no repairs or restoration. The two paintings of hawks have some areas where the silk has started to fragment/shatter, leaving holes of various sizes. This is mainly to the background of the images, not the painted areas. The central panel is in good condition.
