EUSEBIO 1961/75 MATCH WORN #10 BENFICA AWAY JERSEY
A Casa Desporto brand Sport Lisboa e Benfica 1961/75 football jersey match worn by Portuguese football star Eusebio da Silva Ferreira, widely known simply as Eusebio. Stitched on the upper left front is a Benfica logo patch. Stitched on the back of the jersey is Eusebio's number 10 in red fabric numbers. Stitched on the left sleeve is Portugal's coat of arms. The manufacturer label in the collar became undone but is photographed in the letter. Eusebio is considered Benfica's and the Portugal national team's most renowned player and one of the first world-class African-born strikers. Nicknamed "Black Panther," "Black Pearl," and "o Rei" the King , Eusebio is Benfica's all-time top goal scorer. He won the Ballon d'Or award for European Footballer of the Year in 1965 and was runner-up in 1962 and 1966. He played for Benfica for 15 years. The jersey is accompanied by a letter of authenticity which states that this jersey is a property from the collection of former Argentina national team and Boca Juniors player Silvio Marzolini whose club ID is photographed in the letter.
Addendum: As described above, the jersey is believed to be worn by Eusebio during his career with Benfica. However, the exact season in which this jersey was worn is unknown. Although the accompanying COA states that the jersey was used during the 1968, we believe that either the owner or Marzolini misinterpreted this jersey to the 1968 season as the eagle design is slightly different from the available media. It still could be used during the 1968 season but we can't confirm this. The only thing we can confirm is that it was worn by Eusebio during his career from 1961 to 1975.
