MASTER HUMPHREY’S CLOCK; CHARLES DICKENS, with illustrations by George Cattermole & Hablot Browne. 1st Edition. Three Volumes, Volume I published 1840, Volumes II & III published in 1841. Bound in original cloth, primary binding with the hands on gilt clocks on each front cover pointing to the number that corresponds with the volume. Pencil inscription to inside of volume one cover (stating 1st ed. 3 vols A/- 1865). Inscribed by a previous owner in pen-ink on the cover page of each volume. In very good condition over all; Some ware to the covers as photographed, a little loose in the binding towards the back of Volume I & II as photographed. Master Humphrey’s Clock originally appeared in the form of a weekly periodical. Entirely written & edited by Dickens, the magazine included both short stories & two novels (The Old Curiosity Shop & Barnaby Rudge).
