1887-1900 East & West Africa Gambia 1894 clasp. 1899 QSA 5 clasps Tugela Heights, OFS, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing's Nek and WW1 BWM to 167339 J. Evans A.B. R.N. (J. Evans Ord H.M.S. Satellite on Africa, H.M.S. Forte on QSA) nearly very fine and better, several unofficial rivets on QSA clasps.
James Evans was killed in action on 22 September 1914 when the cruiser HMS Cressy was sunk by U-9 off the Hook of Holland along with Aboukir and Hogue and with no known grave is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial. With copied CWGC and WW1 roll, QSA clasps unconfirmed. (See photo) (R)
