Chinese porcelain brush washer, Daoguang Period (1820-1850), of square form with rounded inverted corners, the exterior decorated in gilt and iron red with a central "Shou" longevity symbol flanked by double bands of stylised dragon scrolls, between rounded dagger and petal lappet borders, the interior divided into 9 by raised gilt bands, the segments decorated in Famille Rose with magnolia, peonies, cherry blossom, other flowers, and insects, the base glazed in turquoise and with an iron red 6 character seal mark within a double square, H.6.7 x W.14.5cm, (small rim chip)
Some wear to gilt decoration, other minor manufacturing defects to glaze and paste.
