The MG Midget is a small two-seater sports car that was produced by MG from 1961 to 1979. It revived a name that had been used on earlier models such as the MG M-type and MG D-type.
The MG Midget 1500 was introduced to meet US regulations, large black plastic bumpers were added to the front and rear and the ride height was increased. The increased ride height affected handling, and an anti-roll bar was added to help with higher centre of gravity. The A-Series engine was replaced by the 1493 cc unit from the Triumph Spitfire, coupled to a modified Morris Marina gearbox with synchromesh on all four gears. The increased displacement of the new engine was better able to cope with the increasing emission regulations.
The previous owner of this lovely car had it for many years, barely using it and just re MOT'd it every year. It comes with plenty of receipts showing all work carried out on the car. In 2011 it had a lot of work done on it including adjusting the n/s front inner steering rack joint, king pin bushes, bleed and adjust all brakes, replace worn front trunnion, replace rear wheel centres and shoes, replace front brake disks and pads, all filters, oil, plugs, points etc.
It has had a major service at 53,716 miles, it’s had a new clutch and condenser, new starter motor, bell housing gasket and seals. This car has been very well looked after and comes with lots receipts showing that it has had thousands of pounds spent on it on major services. It previously belonged to an MG owners club member, comes with a spare tonneau cover, and is a real dream for any MG Midget enthusiast.
