An uncut and unmounted 19th century fan leaf, French, printed in black and grey and hand coloured in shades of blue, depicting a lake in the grounds of an imposing chateau, with people in boats, fishing, a winged cherub at each side in the foreground, one riding on a swan fountain, the other atop a second fountain in the form of a dolphin; together with second panel suitable for the fan verso, showing young ladies and one suitor cavorting around a similar swan fountain, both panels signed Eug. André (2)
Slight loss to the bottom right corner on the recto. Eug André appears on a list compiled recently by the Cercle de l’Eventail, described as a “peintre”.
