Homann (Johann Baptist, Dutch, 1664 - 1724); 'Judaea seu Palaestina ob Sacratissima Redemtoris vestigia hodie dicta Terra Sancta...' an 18thC double page map of the Holy Land, with contemporary hand colouring, c.1730, plate mark approx. 480mm x 560mm, together with Munster (Sebastian), Americae Sive Novi Orbis Nova Descriptio', Basle, [1588-1628], uncoloured woodblock map of North and South America, German text on verso, 320 x 360 mm, an early map of Florida ' Das Landt Florida', by Mallet (Allain Manesson), print mark approx. 17cm x 12cm, in card overmount, and a good and large quantity of antique maps, including John Speed 'Holy Island, Garnsey, Farne, Jarsey', uncoloured, Bassett and Chiswell, c.1676, other 19thC county maps, later A-Z's etc., (a lot)
Provenance; The Alan Winning Collection of Antiquarian Maps, Books and Atlases. Beginning in the 1970’s with an interest in the 19th Century development of the railway network and the County Maps of this period that charted it, Alan expanded his academic interest into good early printed maps, town plans, travel guides, books and atlases and has been adding to his collection over the past 50 years.
