A 17th century Japanese ovoid vase, painted in tones of underglaze blue in the Chinese taste with figures in a landscape, 31cm high, Arita, c.1650
Most of the flaws regarding the vase are firing related, there are chips to the rim too
As the rim and first cm or so of the neck interior are unglazed then yes this is rather likely to have originally been a lidded vase.
