Thomas Brown of Chester; a late George III oak and mahogany cased 8-day longcase clock, with painted one-piece 31 cm dial., chiming the hours on a single bell, the trunk door with inlaid cocquillage. supported by shaped bracket feet. 56 cm wide x 29 cm deep x 217 cm overall height. Thomas Brown is recorded as working in Chester between 1766 and 1784 then continuing in Stockport until 1801, please see page 111 of Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World, (CTFCE), Loomes, Brian.
