1742 LETTER FROM CAPE FRANCAIS TO FRANCE: May 1742 EL headed "Du Cap" (Cape Francais, later Cape Haitien) to Montpellier. Red wax seal mostly intact. No other markings, as was normal until 1757, a Louis XIV decree of 1676 allowing mail from the colonies to France to be carried free of charge. Scarce early cover.
