Property of a deceased estate - stamps, philately, philatelic - Great Britain: 1840-1950 a mainly used collection in three albums with 1840 1d black (5, three or four margined examples, also one on cover), 2d blue (3, one with four margins, 1841 2d (10 singles, a horizontal pair, and three on cover), 1864-79 1d plates unused (47), 1870 ½d unused (7 singles and a block of four), 1½d used (4); 1847-54 Embossed 6d, 10d and 1/- cut square, (good appearance but 10d and 1/- with faults) ; a good representative collection of QV surface printed issues including 1855-57 no check letters 4d (13, two on blued with Small Garter watermark), 6d (5) and 1/- (3), 1862-64 small check letters 3d (20, 4d (6), 6d (3), 9d (2) and 1/- (5), 1865-67 Emblems to 9d (2) and 1/- (3); 1867-80 Spray with 9d (3), 10d, and 2/- blue (3), 1873-80 large coloured corner letters with Spray 1/- orange-brown, Large Garter 4d vermilion (2) 4d sage-green (5) and 8d orange (5); Officials including Government Parcels 1883-86 1/- orange-brown plate 13, and 1887-90 to 1/- (5), GB used Abroad range to 5/-, 1902-13 KEVII with De La Rue 10d clear ‘no cross on crown’ variety, and good Officials; GV with definitive issues mint and used including marginal plate numbers, booklet panes, watermark varieties etc, 1912-24 simple cypher 1d imperforate overprinted ‘CANCELLED’, Seahorses with 1913 Waterlow 2/6d and 10/- (blunt corner) mint, 2/6d (3), 5/- (2) and 10/- used, 1915 de La Rue 2/6d (3) mint, 2/6d (4), 5/- (3) and 10/- used, 1918-19 Bradbury 2/6d (3), 5/- and 10/- mint, 2/6d (3), 5/- (3) and 10/- (2) used, 1934 re-engraved 2/6d, 5/- (2), and 10/- mint, 1939-48 2/6d to £1 mint and used; Postage Dues: and one album contains a range of covers from pre-stamp onwards. Condition is generally good to fine, some with faults. A good lot, viewing recommended.
