the wooden stock stamped '4 D G' showing this was issued to the 4th Dragoon Guards, the lock plate is stamped with the Victorian Crown and 'Enfield 1877 I.C.I.', the barrel has all the appropriate proof marks, the gun can be dry-fired and is an obsolete calibre .577/450, a rare gun being one of the first batch produced, the near sight has a leather protector in place. It shows signs of extensive service and has rust in places.
