Thomas Shotter Boys N.W.S (1803-1874) The Road to Lourdes Watercolour with heightened body colour
Framed and Glazed 23cm x 32cm Label verso Loaned to Bootle Art Gallery 1963 for an exhibition of early watercolours. From the private collection of B.N Williams. Born Pentonville London became an engraver till 1823 and this had an influence on his style. Moved to Paris in 1827 and was part of an influential circle that included Eugene Delacroix. Revolution broke out in France in 1830 and he returned to London for a year. Became President of The New Society of Painters in Watercolours 1840. His work is held in numerous public institutions including The Yale Centre for British Art, British Museum and the V&A
