A last quarter 19th century black machine lace fan mounted on sturdy tortoiseshell sticks and ribs, shaped head, the leaf embroidered with tiny silver sequins and backed with cream gauze, guard approx. 29cm; together with an 1890’s black gauze fan, the leaf painted with kingfishers in flight a border of lilac wisteria framing a dusky evening by a lake, the monture of wood, silvered, guard approx. 36 cm, and a third fan, black wood with simple gold decoration, the leaf of black painted gauze, featuring ladies and one suitor, bordered with tiny gold sequins and edged with black machine lace, guard approx. 30cm (3)
The cream backing on the first fan is distressed, some sequins are tarnished.
