AN EARLY 18TH CENTURY HISTORIC MEDAL CELEBRATING THE CAPTURE OF DOUAY, BY VAN LOON. A white metal medal, obverse with the sun disappearing behind a terrestrial globe beneath 'Defectum Lvumine Vidit', reverse two soldiers playing dice with tokens representing possessions, the soldier on the left with Mons, Rusel and Dornic, the other has Arras and Paris, Douay being passed from one to the other. 44 mm, c. 29.80 g. Eimer 444. With old catalogue cuttings.
