A c.1890’s gauze fan painted with butterflies, signed “Antoinette”, the leaf mounted on blonde tortoiseshell, the upper guard with gilt metal monogram, the rivet finished with diamantés, guard approx. 34cm; a tortoiseshell fan with gilt monogram “M” to both guards, the monture shaped at the shoulder and nearer the head, the black silk leaf painted with three chubby, winged, cherubs in the countryside, playing flutes, cymbals and a small drum, signed to the left “Denugent”, guard approx. 28cm, both purchased from Christie’s, London, on 16/02/2006 (2)

The butterfly fan leaf has some repair to the left, noted from behind; the second fan has similar repair, this time central to the leaf.
