Seven: MC, George VI GRI issue, reverse dated 1944, 1939-45, Africa, Italy and F&G stars, Defence and War (un-named), mounted as worn. VF. Although un-named the medals come with a letter from RHQ Royal Green Jackets, signed Col. I H McCausland replying to a request in 1987 for further information on Graham Brice MC; a news cutting relating to Lieut J G Brice and a photocopy of two pages from "Swift and Bold" the History of the KRRC in WWII. The news cutting quotes the following citation: "On 16th August 1944, Lieut Brice was commanding a platoon of the Kings Royal Rifle Corps. He was ordered to protect a troop of tanks moving through close country to a village, which was the objective. While leading his platoon in front of the tanks he came under heavy machine gun fire. With great boldness, he then personally led the party which cleared the enemy out of the houses on the objective, and himself took a leading part in the close quarter fighting which resulted. The platoon suffered heavy casualties and took many prisoners. The tanks were unable to support the attack owing to the close nature of the country. Although his platoon now only numbered eleven other ranks Lieut Brice encouraged his men to further efforts, and, on his initiative, cleared another area. This action enabled the tanks to get on their objective. He then organised the consolidation of the position in spite of heavy enemy shell fire. Throughout the action Lieut Brice showed outstanding courage and leadership, and by his initiative achieved results much in excess of his orders.".The KRRC letter shows his service list including service in N Africa and Italy, returning to the UK, and in July 1944 rejoined the 2nd KRRC in Normandy. He was wounded and returned to UK on 19th August. £1000-1200
