Queen Mary (1867-1953). An early autograph letter signed, May, as Princess of Wales, on two sides of her personal monogrammed correspondence card, Marlborough House, London, n.d. (c.1901), to an unidentified correspondent, presumably a physician. The Princess writes (in pencil), in full, ‘Many grateful thanks – G[eorge] had good day & is luckily in no pain. He had 2 hours good sleep & slept off bad effects of anaesthetic. I have been with him most of the day. He is quite cheerful. Will let you know how night was.’
