£800 - £1,000
A good, large 19th century French tortoiseshell and Boulle work clock, the balloon shaped tortoiseshell case inlaid with cut brass foliate scrollwork, surmounted by a seated cherub and with ormolu foliate, rocaille and best mask mounts throughout, the front door mount depicting a putto carrying a basket of flowers, the 7½in. cast gilt dial with blued steel hands and a musical trophy, framing the Roman enamel numerals, the twin train Vincenti et Cie movement, no.366 7.7, with square plates, striking the hours and half hours on a gong, with sunburst pendulum, 26¼in. (66.7cm.) high. Winds and appears to run correctly. Strike functions correctly. Good condition overall. No damage to enamel numerals. Ormolu mounts without damage or losses. Minor cracks, tiny bruises, light crazing and small old wax fills to very minor losses to tortoiseshell. Also slight damage to surface of t'shell to lower left corner of front dial door (from contact with the ormolu mount on the door). Front door key original and present - lock functions correctly. The hook at the bottom hinge of the door is missing the loop from the door itself to secure the door to the hook hinge, so this corner of the door hangs loosely when the lock is opened - hence the slight damage to the t'shell in this area.
