1931-38 PAPUA & PAPUA NEW GUINEA: Interesting group of mainly flown covers inc. 8 Nov 1931 env probably carried by P.H. Moody from Rabaul to London. 29 Sept 1932 env registered and flown by Guinea Airways on the 1st contract flight from Port Moresby to Salamaua. 3o May 1931 env flown on the 1st Carpenters Airways flight from Australia to Salamaua and return. July 1934 env flown by Faith in Australia flight from Port Moresby to Melbourne. 30 May 1938 env flown on the 1st official Port Moresby to Salamaua and Rabaul & return with a clear strike of the scarce "CLOSED" h.s. 6 Sept 1939 1st day env bearing 2d to 1/- air set and 2 Jan 1941 1st day env franked with 1/6d air. 18 Jan 1947 env flown on the 1st "Bird of Paradise" service from Australia to N Guinea. A fine lot. (15 covers).
