Postal Note: c.1892 One shilling HAND-PAINTED ESSAY on tracing paper (230mm x 115mm) executed in light blue with the 1s value tablet touched up in Chinese white. The essay bears closest resemblance to the 1892 issue, although it could be a proposal for the 1902 issue, abandoned due to the death of the monarch. In any case an exquisite and unique essay, executed in extraordinary detail at such a large scale. Superb!
