An extremely scarce and fine pre 1837 Royal Horse Artillery officer's bullion embroidered sabretache, the centre of the Royal coat of arms has a gilt Hanoverian coat of arms escutcheon, a gilt RA gun is applied beneath the royal arms. The interior pocket flap bears the trade label of Hamburger and Co, Lacemen to the King, 30 King St Covent Garden. There is contemporary writing also but it is indistinct. In its shaped black japanned case bearing a brass plate with owner's name "Lieut. F.T. Whinyates Royal Horse Artillery". Included in the lot are the foul weather cover and the waistbelt with sword and sabretache slings. The sabretache itself in VGC with all gold bullion embroidery very fresh, the lace on the slings is coming unstitched in places. (Whinyates was a prominent name in the Royal Horse Artillery, Captain E A Whinyates being the name of the officer commanding the Rocket Troop at Waterloo). £1200-1300
