A FIRE OPAL AND DIAMOND NECKLACE BY W. PHILLIPS, the briolette type cut opal drop with husk mount pendant from fin de siecle style open diapered panels centred by a circular opal, the back chain with three shaped opals to each side linked with diamond panels, to plain oblong white links and an opal and diamond clasp, together with a pair of similar fixed drop earrings and a similar but later fire opal and diamond art deco ring, size N (Pr.&2) (Illustrated)
Necklace 38.3g gross, earrings 6.4g total gross, ring 6.4g gross. Necklace is 41cms long, earrings 3cms long. Each diamond/opal link/panel is marked by Phillips, (in other words the plain links are not marked). The drop opal is 2cms long, central opal 1.4cms diameter, clasp opal 1.4cms wide. Earring opals are 1.5 x 1.1cms. RIng opal 1.5 x 1.2cms . Ring is unmarked and has been re-sized. Earrings also unmarked with 750 butterflies.
