An early 18th century English pewter gallon capacity measure, of baluster form, marked 'HR' with Crown, 'WR' with Crown (stamped twice), Chester town mark and maker's mark 'I.L.', the body engraved with a wheatsheaf and 'HH', a dog engraving to the underside, 28 cm high, lid absent. Literature: Masse, HJ & LJ, 'The Pewter Collector', Herbert Jenkins, 1921, this measure illustrated Plate XII, (the book is present), together with a pair of 18th century brass petal-base candlesticks, 22 cm high.
