A FINE SCOTTISH SILVER AND STEEL FLINTLOCK DRESS PISTOL BY MARSHALL OF EDINBURGH. With a 17.5cm four stage barrel with a flared octagonal muzzle, profusely engraved centre and fluted section, the steel and silver body similarly decorated with a small image of a game bird in a landscape to the underside. The handle with twin vacant oval cartouches and 'rams horn' terminal with central ball, mounted to the left with a finely pierced and engraved belt hook. The action with button trigger, the cock with decorative pierced disk, ramrod lacking. Signed to the side plate Marshall & Sons 87 George Street, Edinburgh. 25cm.
