A FIRST WORLD WAR CASUALTY TRIO TO THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. A Great War trio comprising 1914-15 Star named to 3507 Gnr W. Quested R.F.A. War Medal and Victory Medal to the R.A. William John Quested was the son of William and Ellen Quested of Stone Street, Petham, Canterbury, he served with 'B' Bty 63rd Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery, entering France on the 31st May 1915 he died after three years and six months service at the 23rd casualty clearing station in France of pneumonia on the 5th November 1918 and is at the Brebieres British Cemetery, one of the smallest cemeteries on the Somme with 87 casualties, his headstone reads 'Peace Perfect Peace with loved ones far away'. He was 26 years old. Sold with photographs of his headstone and research. *CR Surfaces dirty. A lot fee of £8 inc. VAT will be charged on top of the hammer price and BP on all lots.
