SHIP WRECK MAIL - LOSS OF THE IRISH SEA FERRY SS PRINCESS VICTORIA: 30 Jan. 1953 env. Scunthorpe to Larne N. Ireland (stamp floated off) carried onboard the SS Princess Victoria. Heavy seas broke open the bow doors and the Victoria sank with the loss of 133 lives. Mail bags were washed ashore weeks later.
