WW1 Imperial German SG 84/98 first type Mauser Bayonet. 245mm long single edged fullered blade maker marked "Weyersberg, Kirchbaum & Co, Solingen". Spine of blade marked "W88". No flash guard which is correct for the 1st pattern. Crossguard is unit marked "4.R.E.4.75.". Working release catch. Overall length 378mm. No scabbard.
All the blade and metalwork has been cleaned. Some edge knocks to spine of the blade and small nicks to the edge of the blade. Wood is clean with no cracks or splits, just the usual service wear bruises to the wood.
