ILE DES PINS - CONVICT MAIL - CASH-PAID PAIR TO FRANCE - ONE WITH BLUE MANUSCRIPT "PD"; 1/8 Oct. 1872 + 10/18 June 1873 stampless envs. (slight toning or edge wear) from the Eschauzier correspondence (he was a known convict at Ile des Pins) to Bordeaux (one endorsed "Voie Anglaise") both with v. fine 2-ring dotted "NOUMEA" cds and matching boxed "PD" on the front, latter with unusual blue crayon "1.40" + matching blue crayon "PD" (double rate; cash-paid 1f 40c) - the blue markings presumably written at the Prison P.O.; both with (v. fine or partly fine) 2-ring "ALEXANDRIE/EGYPTE" cds backstamps.
