1976 Moto Guzzi 250 TS, 232 cc. Registration number OWB 740R. Frame number 11706. Engine number 11896.
Moto Guzzi and Benelli were merged in the early 1970's when both companies were bought by the car manufacturer Alejandro de Tomaso . From that merger badge engineering was applied, so that many models were sold under both brand names. One of the first models that appeared were the 250 cc two-cylinder two - stroke, which were sold as the Benelli 2C from 1972 and the Moto Guzzi 250 TS from 1975. There were a few differences, the Guzzi had aluminum cylinders with chromed liners and chromed mudguards while Benelli used cast iron cylinders and stainless steel mudguards; it also had a slightly larger petrol tank. The styling of the machine was identical to that of the 350 GTS and completely new to Moto Guzzi. This was because the Tomaso employed a number of car designers who were responsible for the new appearance.
OWB, a UK only bike, was first registered in October 1976 by the Carnell Motor Group of Doncaster and our vendor bought this rare machine in the November of 1989. It has been off the road for many years, according to DVLA since 1979 and will require a general overall of the mechanical and electrical systems. It is currently fitted with a pair of period clip on's, although the vendor is sure he has the original bars, the remainder of the components appear to be original to the machine. The mileage of 9,958 is believed to be original.
