French School, 19th Century - Don Quixote - Graphite heightened with red and yellow watercolour and white body colour, on thick wove paper with an indistinct signature in pencil, 13.9cm x 19 cm, slightly discoloured; together with Vue de Casa Maria, Couvent de Trapistes watercolour on J.Whatman wove paper; and 19th Century Continental School, A Landscape with a Castle and a Lake, watercolour in grisaille; Pilgrims before a Shrine in graphite; Guard with a Halberd, watercolour; three Alpine or River Landscapes, all on wove paper, some sheets with some discolouration, foxing, and waterstaining. Largest sheet: 32.8cm x 40.8 cm, smallest sheet 14.4cm x 9.7cm. Provenance: Don Quixote - Picot, a Parisian publisher active mid 19th century (Lugt 2027). The Vue de Casa Maria, Couvent de Trapistes, relates to the same subject in Recueil de Vues et Fabriques pittoresques d'Italie, Dessinées d'après Nature, Et Publiées par C.
