French School, 19th Century - Don Quixote - Graphite heightened with red and yellow watercolour and white body colour, on thick wove paper with an indistinct signature in pencil, 13.9cm x 19 cm, slightly discoloured; together with Vue de Casa Maria, Couvent de Trapistes watercolour on J.Whatman wove paper; and 19th Century Continental School, A Landscape with a Castle and a Lake, watercolour in grisaille; Pilgrims before a Shrine in graphite; Guard with a Halberd, watercolour; three Alpine or River Landscapes, all on wove paper, some sheets with some discolouration, foxing, and waterstaining. Largest sheet: 32.8cm x 40.8 cm, smallest sheet 14.4cm x 9.7cm. Provenance: Don Quixote - Picot, a Parisian publisher active mid 19th century (Lugt 2027).
