RUSSIA - PRESTAMP COVERS WITH FRENCH 2-RING STEAMER NAME "DANUBE"/"PHASE" (+ "PAUSILIPPE") C.D.S.'s; Very fine July 1859 & Nov. 1860 ELs to Malta from "Berdiansk"/"Taganrog" in Russia but carried by French P.O. steamers and so with mainly v. fine BLUE 2-ring "DANUBE/*" cds or black "PHASE/*" cds on the front; the latter also with v. fine 2-ring "PAUSILIPPE/*" French steamer cds across the join on the reverse, and both charged "6[d]" on delivery.
