'Mines on The Great Flat Lode, Camborne, Cornwall' A 19th century plan With colour key showing Great Flat Lode, North, West Frances, Bassett Great, Copper, Old South, South and Other Lodes, scale 34.72 fathoms to 1 inch, with some minor tears and separation from linen, light water staining evident, good to very good, rolled, 66.5cm x 147cm; With a 19th century hand drawn survey of West Frances Old Sett, showing New Part (Fortescue and Pendarves), South Frances, South Condurrow, scale 16 fathoms to an inch, backed onto linen, tear to bottom, small nibbles to edges, vg. (2) Two remarkable documents with some graphite alterations. From the estate of Ron Hooper, M.V.O., A.C.S.M., F.I.M.M. Born in St.Agnes, he graduated from Camborne School of Mines. After a short career mining in the Gold Coast of Ghana he joined the Camborne School of Mines, eventually becoming Senior Lecturer in Surveying. At the same time, he acted as an independent mining engineer and was appointed mineral agent for several Cornish estates including the Duchy of Cornwall, Tregothnan, and the Godolphin Estate (amongst others).
