** THE 7 YEARS WAR - GOBBÉ CORRESPONDENCE - ADVICE ON HOW TO APPROACH THE ADMIRALTY ABOUT P.O.W.; 26 Sept. 1757 EL (full typed transcript; some dusting and wear at right) from Brest to Gobbé's father giving advice on how to see if his son was alive or dead; charged "5" with a partly fine "BREST" on the front, but redirected to Derval with m/s "Payé a Redon" also on the front. The contents include; "...I advise you to write directly to Mr. Fleulan, Secretary to the Admiralty, in London to ask him to take the trouble to tell you if your son, who is detained as a Prisoner at Topsham in England, is alive or dead... [Give him full details about your son's ship etc.]... but be sure to prepay the postage of your letter as far as Calais or the good Mr. Fleulan will not collect it from the Post Office...".
