The peace of Ryswick was signed in 1697. Sir Robert Howard (1626-1698), dramatist, playwright and politician, son of Thomas, 1st Earl of Berkshire. Member of Parliament, Secretary to the Treasury in 1671, auditor of the Exchequer in 1673 and Privy Councillor in 1689. Backed on cream paper, small tear at bottom right otherwise VF and rare.
