Masonic interest: a number of Masonic jewels and related items including Orpheus Lodge (426) enamelled silver gilt founder's medal; silver gilt medallion by Kenning & Son, inscribed and dated 1920, hallmarked London 1913/14; silver Earl of Donoughmore Bicentenary medal; two translucent hardstone keystone jewels; two paste set jewels, both silver backed; a Dublin Corinthian Club enamelled brass badge; other enamelled badges
Provenance: These medals belonged to John Richard Morgan (1872-1947). Originally from Bangor, North Wales, Mr Morgan moved to Dublin in 1898. He became Vicar Choral at St Patrick's Cathedral, which is where he was presented with the memento of Queen Victoria's visit in 1900 which also appears in this auction. He was well known in Masonic circles in Dublin, being a Past Master of the Corinthian Lodge and the founder of the Orpheus Lodge in 1917.
