** Robert Brookhouse, a younger son of Joseph Brookhouse of Derby (who invented a patent lever movement and, as Brookhouse and Tunnicliffe, made a number of epicyclic skeleton clocks to William Strutt’s design), was born in Derby 1825, was apprenticed to his father 1839-1846 thereafter marrying Emma and settling at Easingwold (Yorks.) where he set up as a watchmaker and jeweller, dying without issue in 1899.
