A VERY GOOD COLLECTION OF SMALL SILVER SUGAR TONGS: various dates & designs, some unusual decorative elements. (i) A Sheffield silver tongs, date letter for 1885, maker’s mark of Martin, Hall & Co (Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall), 8.5cm long. (ii) A pair of Sheffield silver sugar tongs, by Cooper Brothers & Sons Ltd. Date letter ‘d’ & ‘r’, nice ‘Rath’s Tail’ detail to the back of the bowls. 10cm long each, (iii) A Birmingham silver tongs, date letter for 1923, and maker’s mark for Daniel & Arter, 11cm long. (iv) A Sheffield silver tongs by James Lewis & Sons, nice Art Deco style decoration to the stem, hallmarked to the bowl exterior. Date letter for 1910. (v) A Sheffield Apostle sugar tongs, with shell detail to the bowl and apostle on each stem. Hallmarked with date letter and maker’s mark for James Deakin & Sons (John & William F Deakin). 10cm. (vi) A lovely Sheffield sugar tongs with bird claw tips, Sheffield marks, maker’s mark for EV - Viner's Ltd 8cm. Total weight: 126grams.
