£2,800
1815 Waterloo Medal to Alexander Mulligan 1st Batt 79th Reg Foot, original clip with replacement straight bar suspender, light edge bruising and obverse polished, otherwise about very fine. With typed extracts from musters, enlisted as a Boy 1/11/11, served in France with 2nd Batt October 1813 to June 1814, returned to Cork and transferred to the 1st Batt.
He fought with 1st Battalion at Waterloo where the regiment suffered heavy casualties. In the muster for July to Sept 1815, Mulligan is listed as being absent ‘sick at Brussels’, possibly indicating that he was wounded at Waterloo. He served with the Army of Occupation in France until October 1818, and later in Jersey and Ireland, discharged 15/12/22. Ex DNW 19/9/2003. (See photo) (R)
