A mid-19th century figured walnut work table; the (un-affixed) hinged top opening to reveal a chessboard interior, the chessboard banded with an exotic Eastern timber (possibly kingwood) and above a single fully fitted full-width drawer with many accessories to include mother of pearl bobbins, buttons, tape measure, clamps etc. raised on pierced standard-style ends with various motifs including a William IV-style bulb and a lower quatrefoil, the pull-out wool slide below with the maker's original paper label of 'Robert Rough, Cabinet Maker and Upholsterer, opposite the Mansion House, London', the supports united by a central turned stretcher and terminating in French-style scrolls (57cm wide x 42cm deep x 74.5cm high)
